Abstract;An ATP-dependent DNA ligase from a hyperthermophilic archaeon exhibited an intriguing AMP-dependent nick-sealing activity towards oligonucleotide substrates. Through biochemical analyses, we found that this reaction was mainly due to a change in relative energy levels of substrate and product at different temperatures. (author abst.)
