Abstract;Japan Radio Co., Ltd. and NTT Access Network Service Systems Laboratories developed the system WIPAS shown in the title. This is a high speed IP access system consisting of an access point (AP) and plural wireless terminals (WT) at subscriber's residences. The main characteristics are introduced as follows; carrier frequency: 26GHz, transmission type: a point to plural points, transmission rate and modulation system: 40Mbps(QPSK)/80 Mbps (16QAM), transmission system: TDD, TDM/TDMA. And noise figure, receiving level, service quality (precipitation vs. transmission distance etc.), frame format, transfer process, hardware structure etc. are explained. This system was adopted by the Citizen Access Network of Haramachi City of Fukushima Prefecture, Japan in July 2003. Both NTT East and NTT West added this system to their line-up of B FLET'S wireless access type in December 2003.
