Abstract;Global analysis of gene expression by means of microarrays has revealed a large number of UV-regulated genes in skin cells, and bioinformatics has been needed to gain new insight into UV responses from the large-scale data. Under the circumstances, we have been developing a database for UV-regulated genes, in which expression data from microarrays and conventional methods such as Northern analysis and RT-PCR were included. In addition, annotations based on Gene Ontology (GO) were assigned to each gene, so that users can search for genes by GO terms as well as gene names and experimental conditions. The database will be used for evaluation of cosmetic ingredients and allow us to find out new targets for UV-care. (author abst.)
