| Abstract;At a Society's meeting in June 2003, the Digital Divide Study Group of The Japan Society of Information and Communication Research presented a proposal of policy on problems caused by progress of IT, and published the content as a report "Evolution to Digital Opportunity: A suggestion about International Digital Divide Problems" in September 2003. The suggestion by authors' affiliations on Japan's strategy for international cooperation in IT which is the main subject of this article is introduced. Japan's strategy for international cooperation in IT, and promotion of the Asia Broadband Program and its foresight are described. Besides, Declaration of Principles and Plan of Action adopted by the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in December 2003 (cf. Feb. 2004 issue of this journal) is thought to be a result of the present global consensus. |
