| Abstract; We performed photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) to both eyes of a 19-year-old male. He had myopia of -4.0 diopters and with-the-rule astigmatism in either eye. His uncorrected visual acuity improved to 1.0 each one month later. Thereafter, both eyes developed regression of myopia and astigmatism associated with haze. The uncorrected visual acuity decreased to 0.1 right and 0.3 left. He received another session of PRK 4 months after the first one. After keratectomy, the corneal surface was treated by 0.02% mitomycin C for 2 minutes. Reepithelialization set in 4 days later. The uncorrected visual acuity improved to 1.0 right and 1.2 left one month later. He is doing well with reduced haze for 6 months. Adjunct use of mitomycin C appears to have enhanced the effect of second session of PRK. (author abst.) |
