| Abstract; We investigated the inhibitory effects of two injectable formulations of ulinastatin, Estotin Injection and Miraclid Inj., on several enzymes and in experimental animal models. Both Estotin Injection and Miraclid Inj. potently inhibited trypsin, .ALPHA.-chymotrypsin and plasmin activities, the IC50 values of these two formulations being equivalent in all cases. The administration of each formulation significantly decreased the serum levels of both amylase and lipase in the cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis in rats. In addition, the administration of each formulation increased the survival rate during acute pancreatitis caused by closed duodenal ioop in rats and during scald shock in mice. Thus, both formulations have equivalent pharmacological effects in vitro and in vivo. No differences between Estotin Injection and Miraclid Inj. were observed in the present study. (author abst.) |
