Abstract;As telecommunication undergoes a big wave of change from telephone networks to IP networks, NTT's R&D must also adapt, rapidly and responsively, so as to provide a sharp focus on business. At the same time, there are research areas that must be pursued steadfastly, unaffected by short-term changes.
