Abstract;Since the rising numbers of the environmental issues, we have been developing the cutting tools for dry process from the viewpoints of economy and ecology. Among the various machining methods, the MQL machining method that uses a small amount of coolant is used for deep hole drilling, producing good results. However, the progress is slow for elucidating the mechanism of the MQL machining method. We infer the mechanism of the MQL machining from the basic testing and verify the effects of it by demonstrating the functions of coolant and coating in cutting and the uniqueness of lubrication effects.
