Abstract;Revised points in Guidelines 2000 of American Heartdisease Association (AHA) were described, and evaluation of effectiveness and criteria for terminating efforts were explained on the emergency resuscitation. The description was made in the following order : 1) Evaluation of effectiveness (Evaluation of effectiveness on airway maintenance : When there is voluntary respiration (by head retroflexion jaw tip lift-up method or jaw lift-up method), when there is no the voluntary respiration (execution of expiration injection artificial respiration after the head retroflexion jaw tip lift-up method or jaw lift-up method), Evaluation of effectiveness of artificial respiration (expiratory exhalation and normalization), Sternum oppression cardiac massage : Technical evaluation of effectiveness (palpating pupi of the beating, voluntary respiration) and practical evaluation of effectiveness (change in electrocardiogram), 2) Criteria for terminating efforts (Termination of resuscitation treatment : Continuance criteria by the guideline, criteria on termination after obtaining the effect of resuscitation : Appearance of effective respiration, appearance of effective circulation, a case in which judgment is entrusted to the upper grade person), Confirmation of the irreversible death : Appearanceof the postmortem, stone heart, denial of resuscitation (DNR) or denial of attempted resuscitation (DNAR) : Previous denial of cardiopulmonary resuscitation by a patient after understanding information rightly).
