Abstract;The gastric lavage is a basic technique necessary for acute poisoning or diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding, which is also used for thermoregulation of hypothermia and abnormal hyperthermia disease patients. The description was made in the following order : 1) Gastric lavage for acute poisoning (Outline of technique : Significance and purpose, adaptation, contraindication and points to be noticed in inserting a gastric tube and before lavage : Abnormal opinion on skin and mucosa, necessity of tracheal intubation, thoracicoabdominal part x-ray examination, heat insulation for patients, defense against secondary pollution, indoor environment and ventilation, Things to be prepared, Practice and technique of the gastric lavage : Confirmation of the localization of stomach canal, posture, injection volume and injection speed, point advice), 2) Gastric lavage for gastrointestinal bleeding (outline of technique, explanation of technique : Practice of the treatment, point advice), 3) Other gastric lavage for the purpose of the thermoregulation (hypothermia disease, hyperthermia disease : Insolation), 4) Complications of and countermeasures for gastric lavage (pneumonia by erroneous deglutition, body fluid electrolyte abnormality, hypothermia, oesophagus and stomach damage, nose and pharynx damage and hemorrhage),
