Abstract;In 28 glaucoma patients (55 eyes) we studied effective use of the pressure phosphene tonometer Proview (Proview), using intraocular pressure data and questionnaire survey results. We compared age, visual acuity, Humphrey automated perimeter mean visual field deviation (HFAMD) and lower temporal visual field loss between those patients able to use Proview and those not able to use it. We sent the questionnaire to those able to use Proview. Results: 82% of the patients were able to use Proview; 18% were not. Age and HFAMD differed significantly between these two groups. As to use of Proview, most patients responded affirmatively. Proview was useful for patients to measure their own intraocular pressure and become aware of its level. Proview could detect the circadian rhythm of intraocular pressure or intraocular pressure decrease resulting from anti-glaucoma eyedrops. (author abst.)
