| Abstract; For more than 2 years, the authors observed changes in intraocular pressure (IOP) and visual field (VF) with the use of topical betaxolol. Results showed that IOP gradually and significantly decreased. The mean deviation (MD) in VF, as measured by Humphrey automated perimetry, increased significantly at the first and second year. Sector analysis of total deviation (TD) showed mean TD in sectors 13 and 14 at the first and second year to be significantly higher, respectively, than those before instillation. It is suggested that betaxolol instillation may be effective in halting the progress in VF deterioration in normal-tension glaucoma. (author abst.) |
