Abstract;This article introduces the latest circumstance of Korea where terrestrial digital TV broadcasting was begun first in Asia, and also reports why arguments over transmission technology happen there and how the government will confront this problem as well as revision problem of the broadcasting law. In November 1997, Korea adopted ATSC, the American system but the broadcasters' organization (KOBETA) requires to MIC (Ministry of Information and Communication Republic of Korea) to change to the European system (DVBOT) which has better receiving rate and has expanded global market size. The latest state of the change to the terrestrial digital broadcasting, popularization condition, revision problem of broadcast law, the termination schedule of the terrestrial analog broadcasting, the trend in the relating DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) etc. are explained.
