| Abstract; In order to seek the relationship in the title, as a case control study, 278 patients with essential hypertension and 376 subjects with normal blood pressure were tested genetically by polymerase chain reaction method for genetic polymorphism of HGF (nucleotide substitution of A for C in intron 13 of HGF gene). As the result, for the genetic polymorphism of HGF, CC was distributed in 82.6%, CA in 16.5% and AA in 0.9%. A morbidity of hypertension in the group having a CC genotype is significantly larger than in the group having an allelic gene of A. Even after the adjustment of confounding factors, there was retained a significant relation between CC genotype and hypertension, and the odds ratio was 1.71. The significant relation between CC genotype and hypertension was recognized in the female group and slimness group, but was not in the male and obesity group. From the above, the allelic gene of genetic polymorphism of HGF seemed to be possible to demonstrate protective action against endothelial dysfunction and hypertension through local HGF production. |
