Abstract;Seven-months-old male experienced to remove of an alkaline battery in the esophagus under the general anesthesia. After the removal of the battery, esophageal ulcer and laryngeal edema were occurred. He was admitted to the ICU for the mechanical ventilation under the sedation. After a tracheal tube was extubated on 5POD, he was suffering from inspiratory wheezing and tachypnea. The pharyngeal scopy made a diagnosis of the both recurrent nerve paralysis and sub-glottis stenosis caused by an alkaline battery. We concluded that these patients must be observed carefully for several days in the ICU and repeated esophagoscopic and bronchoscopic examination were also must be required. (author abst.)
