Abstract; The purpose of this study is to make an automated system for recovering an object shape from three images taken under different lighting directions. The recovering method is called a photometric stereo method and determines orientations of surface patches based on three image irradiance equations, under assuming the surfaces being an ideal Lambertian. The automated system can recover the object shape by only touching a start button and reconstruct the shape viewed from an arbitrary direction. (author abst.)
