| Abstract; The use of high-strength steels has increased in recent years as more large structures are built. High-strength steels reduce the overall component weight of each structural element while allowing for high stress conditions. Moreover, the demand for tougher steel structures has also increased recently which has further increased the need for high-strength steels. Extreme low-temperature operating conditions are one of the most important application areas for such steels. This paper introduces methods that can be used to improve steel strength for low temperature conditions and the welding consumables required for such conditions. (author abst.) |
