Abstract;To make aluminum welding more popular, it was necessary to reduce the overall equipment cost by using existing robot systems more effectively. Robotic systems equipped with a servo type pull-feed torch have always been quite expensive. To reduce the cost of such systems Kobe Steel developed a system with additional servo type pull-feed torches. The resultant robotic aluminum welding system, equipped with a power source used in conventional steel welding systems, proved to be practical. (author abst.)
