| Abstract;Effects of Famotidine for Injection "SW" and Gaster injection, the preparation of a selective histamine H2-receptor antagonist, on histamine-induced gastric secretion and experimental gastric or duodenal ulcer models were studied in rats. Intravenous administration of each preparation dose-dependently and significantly decreased histamine-induced acid secretion in acute fistula rats. These preparations given intravenously also dose-dependently and significantly inhibited indomethacin- or aspirin-induced gastric lesions and meprizole-induced duodenal ulcers. No differences in the above effects were observed between the two preparations, Famotidine for Injection "SW" and Gaster injection. Thus, these preparations have equivalent pharmacological action due to the blockade of histamine H2-receptors, such as antisecretory and antiulcer effects. (author abst.) |
