Abstract; We investigated the effects of two injectable formulations of nicardipine hydrochloride (calcium antagonist), Nicarpine injection and Perdipine injection on cardiovascular system in anesthetized dogs and rats. The administration of each formulation dose-dependently decreased the blood pressure in dogs. The administration of each formulation also significantly lowered blood pressure elevated by angiotensin II in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, the administration of each formulation inhibited the pressor responses and negative chrorotropic actions induced by norepinephrine in rats. Thus, both formulations have equivalent pharmacological effects on cardiovascular system. No differences between Nicarpine injection and Perdipine injection were observed in the present study.
