| Abstract;Characteristics of spatial patterns of rainfall distribution were studied using 8 automatic rain gauges installed at 200m intervals between the altitude 1200m and 2400m in Nishikoma experimental forest of Shinshu University (NEFSU) in the Japan Alps. NEFSU is forest slopes consisting of 10% conifers and 90% natural vegetation. From the observation results the amounts of rainfall and rainfall patterns are greatly influence by the altitude of the slopes. Further, observations in the eastern and the western mountain ranges of Tenryu River were compared using cases of typhoon rainfalls and depression rainfalls. It is shown that from the correlational curves of the altitude of NEFSU and amounts of rainfall the rainfall characteristics of the two areas are discernible. This difference in rainfall was evidenced by the record of the flooding disaster. |
