| Abstract; The most important problem in the integrated management of a river watershed is to control the soil erosion of the whole watershed. Therefore, to monitor or simulate the river runoff, the land use related to the sedimented soil and gravel amount, and the change of the land use is essential to achievement of the watershed management. The hydrological field investigation was performed in the hillslopes and the small watersheds in the loess zone in Shanxi Province, China, and some preliminary results were obtained. That is to say, the runoff was less in the case of a higher forest canopy density(0.75-0.8) of the forest than in the case of a lower forest canopy density(0.61-0.63).The following conclusion was obtained: The forest can decrease together both the river runoff and gravel runoff in the watershed to a considerable degree. |
