Abstract; The quantity of the gravel sediments brought from the watershed and the deposited silt rate in the reservoir by the sedimentation(deposited silt) were measured in order to estimate the use period of the Lam Phra Phloeng dam in Thailand. As a result, the annual sediment volume in the reservoir was 2.23 mcm in the first period between 1970 and 1983, and the erosion rate was 2.72 mm/year/km.2 in 73.57% of the forest region. The annual sediment volume was 1.625 mcm in the period from 1983 to 1991, and the erosion rate became 1.98 mm/year/km.2 due to the 1.05-percent increase of the forest region. And the annual sediment volume was 0.36553 mcm in the period of 1991 to 2000, and the erosion rate became 0.445 mm/year/km.2 due to the 4.95-percent increase of the forest region. The reservoir volume would have decreased by 28% for 21 years. As a conclusion, the life of the dam was estimated to be 32 years after its completion.
