Abstract;Cross-sectional TEM observation was used to study the interfacial reaction of commercially manufactured steel cord and rubber during vulcanization. In the initial phase of the reaction, the inter-reacted layer was uniformly generated regardless of whether the brass film thickness was uniform or not. As vulcanization progressed, the thickness of the inter-reacted layer became uneven, i.e. the thicker the brass film, the thicker the inter-reacted layer became. (author abst.)
