| Abstract; An open-label, multi-center study was conducted in migraine patients receiving Imigran Tablet (sumatriptan succinate) to investigate the Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) using the Japanese version of the Migrainespecific Quality of Life Questionnaire (MSQ). The number of the Health Outcome Population (HOP) was 235. The three subscales, Role Function-Restrictive (RR), Role Function-Preventive (RP) and Emotional Function (EF), which are the primary endpoints, showed significant improvement after 12 weeks of Imigran Tablet administration, shown as RR: + 13.2, RP: + 10.2 and EF: + 10.1, compared with baseline (p < 0.0001). Also the scores of the Headache Impact Test (HIT), paper version (HIT-6), showed significant improvement after 12 weeks of Imigran Tablet administration compared with baseline (p < 0.0001). The rate of improvement of headache was high ; 75.8 % after 2 hours of Imigran Tablet administration, and 80.0 % after 4 hours, and patient satisfaction also improved substantially. Given the above information, continuous administration of Imigran Tablet not only improves pain of migraine, but improves the HRQOL which had been compromised by migraine, and provides high level of patient satisfaction. HIT-6 is considered as an effective tool with which migraine patients can assess disturbance to daily lives by themselves. HIT-6 also assists physicians with treating migraine from the patient's viewpoint. (author abst.) |
