| Abstract;Usual lightning resistance design of generators is considered to have practically some allowance in the vicinity of power plants since many factors to reduce surge exist between a power plant and the site of thunderbolt. A possibility to prolong the rewinding period of stator winding on the basis of the analysis of lightning surge to generator was examined by verification of the validity of analytical model of invasion of lightning surge and analytical result on actual generator. The difference of insulation design and required withstanding voltage of the generator was evaluated. The analytical result of invaded lightning surge under a realistic estimation condition showed a possibility of reduction of the value of withstanding voltage necessary for the insulation of generator stator. |
