Abstract;As the factor which regulated the individual specificity of a blood concentration of the theophylline, the author discussed genetic factor and acquired factor. In the genetic factor, a knowledge on CYP1A2 gene polymorphism which was cytochrome P450 enzyme of the liver was introduced. In the acquired factor, smoking, aging, seriousness of the asthma, and various combined drugs such as cimetidine and rifampicin were enumerated, and the effect of these factors on a blood concentration of the theophylline was simply mentioned.
