| Abstract; We have performed an open-study in 43 essential hypertensives to investigate the antihypertensive efficacy and duration of Candesartan Cilexetil monotherapy on ambulatory blood pressure. Twenty-four-hours ambulatory BP (24hr BP) monitorings have been assessed twice at baseline and twice at the end of treatment. The decrease of 24hrBP, awaking-time BP, sleeping-time BP and early morning BP were 10.6mmHg/5.9mmHg, 11.7mmHg/6.6mmHg, 8.8mmHg/4.8mmHg and 11.2mmHg/7.6mmHg respectively (p .LEQ. 0.0001). On the other hand, pulse rates were not influenced except that of early morning. Candesartan showed also a good tolerability in safety. Candesartan monotherapy produced a smooth antihypertensive effect throughout the dose interval of 24 hr. (author abst.) |
