Abstract; The effect of the Kaluza-Klein (KK) mode of bulk metric perturbations on the Randal-Sundrum type II brane cosmology (the brane in the anti-de Sitter bulk) is studied. The 5d Einstein field equation with a cosmological constant and a bulk scalar field is analyzed, and the effective energy density and pressure are calculated. It is found that the KK graviton behaves as a cosmic dust with a negative energy on the brane. Its impact on the cosmological evolution is discussed.
