Abstract; The Einstein field equation, containing the dust fluid as a matter field, is analyzed. The approximate solution is derived, which describes the gravitational waves emitted from a naked singularity formed through the high-speed gravitational collapse of a cylindrical thick shell composed of dust. The boundary condition to be imposed at the naked singurality is derived, which states that all the metric and matter variables should be everywhere finite up to the at least 1st order approximation. It is argued that the gravitational radiation from a naked singurality due to the cylindrical dust collapse is gentle.
