Abstract; The quantum aspects of vortices are studied in the supersymmetric Higgs model and in the supersymmetric generalization of quantum electrodynamics in 2+1 dimensional space-time. In a manifestly supersymmetric setting based on the superfield formalism, the supercurrent and associated conservation laws are investigated. It is found that the quantum anomaly does not appear in the supertrace identity and in the supercharge algebra. The central charge and the vortex spectrum suffer the effect of renormalization. The vortex spectrum is shown to be exactly determined at one loop correction. The spectrum of the elementary excitations, however, undergo higher order corrections.
