| Abstract; As seral amylase anomaly reported by amylase electrophoresis, genetic variation (pancreatic-derived and saliva-derived variants), macroamylase (immunoglobulin complex/complex with substrate), tumor-productive amylase (sialyl-S amylase) are taken up, and the appearance mechanism and clinical significance are outlined. The anomaly most often detected and with most important significance in clinical diagnosis is macroamylase (amylase-immunoglobulin complex). Since this immunoglobulin complex show persistent hyperamylasemia of unkown origin in most cases, it is important to diagnose in the labolatory for avoiding excessive examination and misdiagnosis. The diagnosis can be facilitated by non-fractional broad band detection in electrophoresis or detection of macromolecular amylase fraction in gel filtration. |
