Abstract;Over the past 39 years, 620 patients with 760 intussusceptions were treated at our department, and their cases are reviewed. Barium enema reduction is applied in 96.1% (730/760) of all the cases of intussusception, which was thought to be the indication of this method. 692/730 (94.8%) were cured safely by barium enema reduction. Pathologic lead point (PLP) was present in 2.7% (17/620). Overall recurrence rate was 13.2% (82/620), and PLP was present in three cases with multiple recurrences. Ten cases with multiple recurrences were operated on to find PLP, and two cases were demonstrated to have PLP. (author abst.)
