Abstract;From the viewpoint of global environmental presenation and resource savings, long life materials permitting easy recycling are required. In the present work, a trial was carried out to develop a new type of cast iron called stainless spheroidal carbide cast iron. Studies were carried out on fundamental chemical composition, x%C-18%Cr-8%%Ni-y%V-Fe (mass%), based on chemical bond theory and gas-bubble theory. This new cast iron has a micro structure which consisst of uniformly distributed spheroidal carbides in stainless matrix, and showed even superior properties in abrasion-resistance, corrosion-resistance, and ductility.
