| Abstract; For an animated agent system which can interact with users through natural language, it is necessary to deal with the vagueness of natural language. We focused on spatial constraints in the interaction and developed a framework which can interpret thus vagueness. This paper explains the framework. At first, we analyzed and classified the spatial constraints in Japanese spatial words. In Japanese, spatial constraints are represented by nouns such as "mae (in front of)" in "tukue no mae made itte (GO to in front of the desk.)". Then, we proposed SPACE objects which represented spatial constraints in terms of both symbolic and numerical representations. Potential functions were used in these objects to express the vagueness. Finally, we implemented these objects in our animated agent system and showed examples of interactions through natural language. (author abst.) |
