| Abstract;Kampo herbal medicine has been used for over 4000 years. Occasionally, some of these substances have been prescribed for children. However, it has only been 20 years since Kampo medicine has been widely used in the field of pediatric surgery. Some of the principal Kampo medicines used for daily treatment in pediatric surgery today are Shosaiko-to, Inchinko-to, and Sairei-to for biliary atresia; Daikenchu-to for ileus and constipation; Rikkunshi-to for stomach disorders; and Juzentaiho-to for anal fistula. The results of the treatment using these medicines have been better than the results without any prescription. (author abst.) |
