| Abstract;Normal mature neutrophils and various abnormalities of mature neutrophils are introduced mainly in respect of the standard mature neutrophil classification criteria under normal condition by the Japanese Examination Hematology Society and the standard expression method under abnormal condition by the Japan Clinical Sanitary Test Engineer Association. Normal neutrophils are divided into rod type and lobe type. As for the abnormalities in the number, generally, a case with more than 7,500/.MU. is neutrophilia and a case with less than 1,500/.MU. is neutropenia. The medium value of the distribution of normal neutrophils is in 3 lobes. A case with an increase in underlobed neutrophils is a shift to left, and a case with an increase in overlobed neutrophils is a shift to right. As morphological abnormalities of mature neutrophils, giant neutrophil, hyperlobation, hypolobation, corpuscle, toxic granule, giant granule and empty space formation are observed. However, for neutrophils, there is no unified standard regarding the method of expression and the decision of the degree of the abnormalities. In the examination, observation should be performed always with the information on the form, number and distribution in mind. Especially, abnormalities overlap in many cases. |
