| Abstract;The operation history of Sankyu Corporation that has been ordered to fabricate hot rolls in 1982 at the Tobata hot roll plant of Japan Iron and Steel Corporation by grinding and finishing is explained. The company has been ordered to grind all rolls for finishing, intermediate rolling and backup rolls, and working rolls for rough hot rolling and to inspect, to dismantle, and to re-erect, and to disassemble and to re-erect standing type rolls as well. The main services that the company completed included the inspection and maintenance works of bearings and chocks installed on the rolls, and the inspection and the maintenance of the roll grinding machine, and also the performance management and the shipper-receiver management The company has successfully accommodated to the changes of roll materials from adamite-type rolls at the first preparation stage of the hot rolling plant, to the high speed steel type rolls to cope with increasing rolling production of special steel products, and the nickel-grain type rolls during the stabilized production periods. The article explains the roll grinding, the exchange of roll chocks, the development of hanging jigs, and the production cost reduction and productivity enhancement with respect to the development of automated inspection technology, and many technological topics as well. |
