| Abstract; We experienced three cases of congestive heart failure (CHF) during postpartum period. Case-1 was a 30-year-old primipara with triplet. She developed CHF just after delivery with cesarean section in the 30th week of pregnancy and she was diagnosed as peripartum cardiomyopathy. Case-2 was a 28-year-old multipara with gestosis with hypertension. She had dyspnea after 13 days from uncomplicated vaginal delivery in the 35th week of pregnancy. Case-3 was a 32-year-old primipara with gestosis with hypertension. She underwent cesarean section in the 32nd week of pregnancy. However, she complained of difficulty with breathing after 5 days from the delivery. All three cases, were successfully treated for CHF with diuretics and vasodilators. Although the etiology of CHF during postpartum period remains still uncertain, it is considered that pregnancy leads to greater changes in hemodynamics, especially volume overloading in multiple pregnancy and elevation of blood pressure caused by arteriospasm in gestosis. This increases cardiac work and results in CHF. An attention should be paid to cardiac conditions not only during pregnancy or delivery but also during postpartum period in high risk pregnancy.
