Abstract;We studied the in vitro antibacterial activity of doripenem (DRPM), a novel carbapenem, compared to imipenem, cefotaxime, ceftazidime, and cefepime, against .BETA.-lactamase-producing bacteria. DRPM was active against class A strains, including extended-apectrum .BETA.-lactamase (ESBL), and against class C and D producers, but not against class B. DRPM activity against .BETA.-lactamase producers was 2-4 times stronger than that of IPM. (author abst.)
