| Abstract; The fluctuations in the title is analyzed to examine whether the finite thickness of the brane can be a natural cutoff for the Kaluza-Klein (KK) spectrum or not. After the dimensional reduction, the amplitudes of the KK modes and of the bound states are calculated. It is shown that the KK amplitude is finite for the finite thickness of the brane, and that the behavior of the surface divergence is recovered in the thin brane limit. The type of the divergence depends on the number of the dimension: The divergence is found to be of logarithmic (quadratic) on the 2d brane in the 3d bulk (the 3d brane in the 4d bulk). The amplitudes of the bound states are independent of the brane thickness. These amplitudes do depend on the choice of the renormalization scale. |
