Abstract; We have been developing Active Mouse which is a type of haptic interface. In this paper we propose a novel omni mobile mechanism for the active mouse. General omni mobile mechanisms have low energy transmission efficiency from actuators. We propose and design the new mechanism to improve the efficiency and prototype the actual device. The omni mobile mechanism consists of differential transfer mechanisms, a drive ball, ball holders and motors. The key part is particularly the differential transfer mechanism composed of differential gear, reducing the friction on the contact point to the drive ball from conventional mechanisms. This mechanism demonstrated that it is practical for the active mouse. (author abst.)
