Abstract;We discuss the effects from the Kaluza-Klein modes in the bulk inflaton model. We couple a bulk field .PHI. to a brane scalar field .PHI., representing the matter field. We compute the 1-loop effective potential Veff(.PHI.) and show that it develops 'true' vacuum with (.PHI.).NEQ.0, rendering the original vacumme (.PHI.)=0 meta-stable. In the true vacuum, the bulk field .PHI. does not have a light mode anymore.
