| Abstract;Machining efficiency, improvement in machining accuracy and reduction of machining cost are required in order to deal with a shorter product life cycle and to compete in price internationally. In the machining of tooling, high-speed, highly-efficient direct milling of hardened material with carbide end mills has become widely popular. Nachi has developed the world class special end mills, the GS Mill Series, for machining of tooling jointly with Sumitomo Electric Hard Metal Co., Ltd. and has been presenting solutions for improving machining efficiency and reducing machining cost. We have combined the material, coating and design/analysis technologies where both companies excel and have developed a new product, the GS MILL Long Neck Ball and GS MILL Hard Ball as a new series under the "Symbio Brand" (New brand name for the reliable small round tool series.). This completes the GS Mill Series and will further improve machining efficiency. The developed end mill is a high-speed, highly-efficient end mill capable of 800m/min. This is the fastest surface speed in the world. Furthermore, as the ball nose end mill is precisely ground by NACHI's original technology, this end mill is applicable for various "state of the art" requirements from rough milling to finish milling and can support the most advanced machining technology.
