| Abstract; What comes to mind when you think of friction? Is it the frictional heat from rubbing two sticks together to make a fire? Is it the friction from braking an automobile? What we can say about it is that it is not a smooth motion regardless of the type of friction. Making a fire is to generate frictional heat by hindering smooth motion forcibly and to bring the status to the level of combustion. Braking is possible because friction can stop motion. Generally, friction means the phenomenon to resist motion. Friction is unwanted when motion is expected while friction is essential when friction per se is intended. When friction is repeated, the phenomenon is usually converted to wear. There are intended wear and unintended wear. Explained here are these phenomena with minimal use of numerical formulas.
