Abstract;In Gunnma Prefecture, 7 sera obtained from sows with abortion were investigated serodiagnostically. The reaction rates with L. copenhageni strain M20, L. copenhageni strain Shibaura, and L. icterohaemorrhagiae were 6, 4, and 5 respectively and the strains belonged to a serogroup. The reactions rates with L. autanalis strain Akiyami A, L. hebdomadis strain Akiyami B, L. australis strain Akiyami C, L. canicola strain Hond Utrecht IV, L. australis strain Ballico, and L. pomona strain Pomona were 3, 2, 1, 1, 3, and 1, respectively. After one month of the first survey, pig sera obtained again from the same sows were investigated serologically and the antibody titers to RGA were less than 1:100. Amongst the sera, the antibody titers to M20 in a sow was 1:200. Any leptospiras were not isolated from aborted piglets. However, antibodies to Akiyami A, M20, Akiyami B, and 3705 in body fluids obtained from the aborted piglets were detected and the detection rates of Akiyami A, M20, Akiyami B, and 3705 with the fluids were 3, 1, 1, and 1 in the antibody titer of 1:100. These results may indicate that the sows were infested with Akiyami A. In Okinawa Prefecture, 237 pig sera obtained from three different places were investigated serologically. Amongst the sera, the detection rates of antibodies with the titer of 1:100 to Pomona, RGA, M20, Shibaura, Hardjo, Akiyami A, Akiyami B, Akiyami C, 3705, Ballico, and Hond Utrecht IV were 45, 44, 40, 37, 21, 29, 26, 37, 23 and 22, respectively. Especially, the infection with serogroup Copenhageni including strains RGA, M20, and Shibauras may be most suspected. The infection with serogroups Pomona and Australis may also be suspected. On the other hand, the antibodies to leptospiras in 84 dog sera collected in Ibaraki Prefecture were investigated serologically and the detection rates of the antibodies with the titers of 1:100 to 3705, RGA, Ballico, Akiyami C and Akiyami A. were 20, 11, 10, 7, and 6, respectively....
