Abstract; It is shown that the condition that the jump-defects, described by a delta function, cause pure transmission can be extended to non-relativistic models without destroying the integrability. In the 1-dimensional nonlinear Schroedinger equation, the defect condition is expressed by a Baecklund transformation and the preservation of integrability is derived via a Lax pair argument. The scattering between one soliton and a defect and between two solitons and a defect is studied and bound states associated with the jump-defects are obtained. The cases of (modified) Korteweg de Vries equations are briefly discussed.
