| Abstract; The spread of the WHO model for cancer pain relief has been slow in Japan, and the overall record on pain relief for cancer patients is less than adequate. Psychological resistance against morphine among medical professionals and citizens alike seems to have played a role. Health insurance coverage for treatment provided by palliative care unit was recently approved, and the more aggressive use of opioids should improve pain control for more and more patients. |
