| Abstract; The WHO model of pain relief for cancer patients classifies pain into five categories, and also lists a variety of pain symptoms specifically found in cancer patients. Pain treatment should begin with description of possible causes of pain to patients, and then proceed to selection of appropriate methods to different symptoms based on accurate diagnosis. NSAIDs should be prescribed to outpatients whose complaints of pain gradually becomes intense. Consulting to specialists is recommended when the painkillers do not exhibit effects or cause serious side-effects, or when patients' specific needs cannot be met. |
