Abstract; While adjuvant analgesics do not have analgesic action by themselves, they can exhibit the same effects under certain conditions or when combined with analgesics, and can enhance the efficacy of analgesics with which they are used. Fifteen percent of pain cancer patients feel derived from other causes than tumors. Bone metastasis and damage on nervous tissue are considered to play a major role in causing pain that are had to remove by opioids. Adjuvant analgesics become necessary when opioids do not produce desired effects or side-effects from opioids persist.
